As the gateway to Siraya National Scenic Area, Guantian Visitor Center carries the critical mission of creating the area's "first impression." Facing a vast region spanning nearly 100,000 hectares across Tainan and Chiayi, we encountered a core challenge: What truly represents Siraya? And how can we create tangible value through immersive exhibition within the existing spatial constraints and functional positioning of the visitor center?
From water's heart, our stories start
We spent considerable time exploring the character of this land, and ultimately discovered the answer: water. Tsengwen Reservoir, Wusanto Reservoir, Hutopi Reservoir, Jianshanpi Reservoir, and Baihe Reservoir are more than just water facilities—they connect the entire hydrology, ecology, and industries of Siraya.
We designed a visual narrative: beginning with a single water drop falling and entering the reservoirs, creating ripples on the surface. Through the Chianan Irrigation System, it nourishes this land, giving rise to butterflies and kapok flowers, eventually cultivating local products like Baihe lotus seeds, before falling once again—symbolizing the endless cycle.
Where virtual meets real, stories reveal
When visitors arrive here, they first experience the magnificent embrace of mountains and the beauty of the lake scenery. Upon entering indoors, the exhibition continues that sense of wonder and delight. Through shifts in perspective and the interplay between virtual and physical elements, we transform the spectacular and ever-changing landscape into an unforgettable up-close experience, allowing visitors to embark on their journey with the anticipation that "Siraya awaits my exploration."
